GOING AWAY MEANS COMING BACK HEALTHIER
Weightloss Articles November 27th, 2009Thirty three per cent of Australians in full-time jobs won’t take one day’s leave this year although they have a vast range of top-class holiday destinations at their fingertips
According to a study done by Tourism Australia, nearly 60% of full-time Australian workers don’t utilise their 4 weeks’ annual leave entitlement. Many Aussies have eight weeks or even more of accummulated leave.
According to the study, people in Australia also work longer hours than anywhere else in the developed world.
Shorter, weekend getaways have become increasingly popular at the expense of the traditional month-long seaside family holiday. The global economic downturn has also contributed to the flat tourism market. But while a weekend escape is seen by many as sufficient to recharge the batteries, health experts have a different view.
Experts agree that people who take their health seriously should take holiday time seriously too.Researchers from the State University of New York at Oswego did a study on over twelve thousand men between the ages of 35 and 57 and found that men who took annual holidays reduced their overall risk of dying by about twenty per cent.By taking leave, they can also reduce their risk of death from heart disease by up to 30%.
With world-class destinations on their doorstep, Australians have no excuse to skip on holidays. West Australians have the attractions of the Margaret River area within a few hours’ drive, and with a diversity of quality accommodation in Margaret River to choose from, even the most jaded tourist will be energised.Extraordinary natural beauty, wineries, spectacular coastline, restaurants, local attractions and a huge variety of holiday accommodation in Margaret River, make it an unbeatable vacation destination.
We need to listen to the experts who all tell us that taking holidays is beneficial to our health. A 2005 study from the Marshfield Clinic in Wisconsin showed that women who don’t take regular holidays were two to three times more likely to be depressed than women who take regular breaks.
Skipping holidays seems to be a national past-time in Australia. The group with the most accrued leave are corporate men between 35 and 49, half of whom have children under 12.
And that’s not healthy for anyone, says Margaret River holiday accommodation agency, Seaside Holiday Home Accommodation, which has 60 holiday homes on its books.”Adults need holidays just as much as kids do, in order to bond together, communicate, relax and recharge.Renting a holiday home in Margaret River is an ideal way for families to enjoy time together in a peaceful environment, so that everyone gets the healthy benefits from a good holiday.”
